How to find cheaper Vancouver auto insurance
Drivers should always be searching for ways to pay less for insurance, so take a minute or two to look through the money-saving ideas below and it’s very possible you can save a few bucks the next time your policy renews.
- Remain claim free and save. Auto insurance companies reduce rates a little if you have no claims on your account. Auto insurance is intended to be used for significant financial loss, not for insignificant claims.
- Compare rates before buying a car. Different models, and even different trim levels of the same model, have significantly different auto insurance rates, and companies charge widely varying rates. Check prices before you buy a new car in order to avoid any surprises when insuring your new car.
- Earn discounts to save money. Savings may be available if the policyholders take a defensive driving course, are military or federal employees, insure their home and car with the same company, are senior citizens, drive a vehicle with safety or anti-theft features, or many other discounts which could save the average Vancouver driver as much as $382 per year.
- Choose a vehicle that is more affordable to insure. Vehicle type has a huge impact on the cost of auto insurance. For example, a Hyundai Venue costs $2,534 less per year to insure in Vancouver than a Audi R8. Choose lower performance vehicles to save money.
- A good driving record means cheaper insurance rates. If you want the cheapest car insurance in Vancouver, it pays to drive within the law. Just one or two minor traffic violations could result in raising the cost of a policy by at least $600 per year. Major convictions such as DUI/DWI and felony use of a motor vehicle could raise rates by an additional $2,106 or more.
- Careless drivers pay higher car insurance rates in Vancouver. Having a few at-fault accidents can really raise rates, to the tune of $1,094 per year for a 30-year-old driver and even $552 per year for a 60-year-old driver. So be a careful driver and save!
- The higher the deductibles, the lower the cost. Boosting your physical damage deductibles from $500 to $1,000 could save around $374 per year for a 40-year-old driver and $724 per year for a 20-year-old driver.
